FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions about Steve’s PC Productivity Monitor

Q?       Why aren’t results shown straight away?
A         Results of your activity are recorded every minute – so it takes a minute before the first result is displayed.

Q?       I have waited a minute, but my graphs still display nothing?
A         Graphs provide data averaged over longer periods – and the first result is not displayed until 10 minutes of data has been logged.

Q?       Why can’t I resize the windows?
A         The windows are automatically changed to appropriate sizes needed to display data or graphs without losing clarity.
You can minimise the window or restore it at any time.

Q?       Will I lose my data if I close the program without saving it?.
A         Data is saved automatically if you close the program normally – by clicking the top right red-cross or selecting the ‘File’ menu then ‘Exit’
In addition, data is saved automatically every 30 minutes.
But if your computer crashes or shuts down abnormally for any reason, you may lose some or all of your data.

Q?       How do I separate out monitoring ‘play time’ from ‘work time’?
A         The easiest way is to either use the ‘Pause’ button or the ‘Stop’ button.
‘Pause’ keeps today’s totals data displayed and allows you to add to it later.
‘Stop’ will freeze today’s totals then reset them if you press ‘Start’ – exactly the same as if you closed the program and restarted it again.
With either option, data saved for the graphs is added whenever the program is running and has been started but not paused.

Q?       Why can’t I see the times I am most productive?
A         These features are only available after you have upgraded.

Q?       I have upgraded but still can’t view the upgrade options?
A         Once you have paid for your upgrade, you need to activate it by:
i)          Select the top menu bar ‘About’ then click the ‘Activate’ option
ii)         Enter your details in the boxes then press the ‘Activate’ button

Q?       Why don’t the graphs get updated automatically?
A         They do – but the software has been designed to minimise use of your PC resources.
So the graphs only get updated automatically after each 30 minute period – and then only if you have chosen to display one.
You can update the displayed graph results immediately by clicking anywhere in the white portion of a graph.

Q?       Does it work on an Apple Mac?
A         Sorry No. The software was created using Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 for maximum compatibility with the latest windows software – but is unable to create a Mac version
